Ramadhan - Day 3 - Baklava and Chinese style sesame chicken
Baklava
I use the recipe from Dedemed with some modification to suit my taste.Ingredients
- 1 package philo dough (saya beli kat Tesco Extra Seberang Jaya, ada logo halal lagi)
- 200 gm sweet cream butter melted
- 1 1/2 cups of finely chopped nuts of your choice (I use pistachio)
- 1/8 cup sugar
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup simple syrup
Simple Syrup:
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 tbs lemon juice
1 bottle Rose water
Directions
Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius.
Mix nuts, nutmeg, cinnamon and sugar in a bowl.
Butter each later of the philo
dough and layer 4 sheets at a time then add nuts and repeat the layers.
Cut the pastry into any shape, most commonly squares or diamond shape.
Place in oven and cook for 30-45 minutes or until golden brown.
Drizzle
the baklava while in the pan with the simple syrup and then let cool
completely before serving.
And this is how it look like when done.
Stir fried shredded ginger with sesame oil till golden brown. Add chicken pieces.
Soak black fungus and cut it into small pieces.
Add the black fungus into the half cook chicken.
Add in vegetarian soya puff and vegetarian chicken leg. Add salt, oyster sauce, soy sauce, black pepper and water. Cook until chicken is tender and ready to serve with rice.
